Silmaco's sodium silicates and sodium metasilicates are used in the textile industry for:
- Fixation of colours: sodium silicates are used as an alkaline buffering agent to keep reactive dyes stable.
- Stabilisation of peroxides: peroxides, used for bleaching, degrade under the catalytic influence of metals such as copper, iron and manganese. Adding sodium silicate inactivates these metals and prevents the reactive oxygen from degrading prematurely.
- Detergent operations: sodium metasilicates are particularly suitable to remove light or heavy grease and soil.
